One of the attendees at the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City, Jacob Gooch Sr., recently shared his harrowing experience of the mass shooting that occurred during the event. The gunman, amidst the crowd, began firing shots, causing panic and chaos among the attendees.

Witnessing the Shooting

Jacob Gooch Sr., a devoted Chiefs fan, found himself among the 23 individuals who were struck by the gunfire. He described the terrifying moment when the shooter, with a finger on the trigger, started firing shots while spinning around in the midst of the crowd. According to Jacob, just before the gunshots rang out, someone in the crowd was heard telling the shooter that it wasn’t the appropriate time and place for such actions.

He recounted how his daughters witnessed the shooter pulling out a gun and discharging rounds as he spun around. The entire shooting incident was captured on surveillance video, and Jacob mentioned that he could see himself on the ground as panic spread and people scrambled for cover.

Realization and Injuries

Initially mistaking the loud noises for fireworks, Jacob soon realized the severity of the situation when he noticed smoke emanating from a gunshot wound on his ankle. He also revealed that his son and wife had also sustained gunshot wounds, with his son being shot in the foot and his wife in the leg.

Authorities’ Assessment

Law enforcement officials have stated that the shooting does not appear to have been an act of terrorism. Instead, they believe it stemmed from a dispute between multiple groups that ultimately escalated into gunfire. Although Jacob did not get a clear look at the shooter, his family described the assailant as a middle-aged man.
