Jimmy Garoppolo, the quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, has been suspended for two games by the NFL for violating the league’s Performance Enhancing Substances Policy. The suspension was announced on Friday morning and is not expected to be appealed, meaning Garoppolo will be sidelined until Week 3 of the 2024 season.

Violation and Consequences

The suspension comes as a result of Garoppolo reportedly using a prescribed medication without a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption. As a consequence, he is also likely to be cut by the Las Vegas Raiders next month following the league’s ban.

Performance and Future

Garoppolo’s time with the Raiders has been underwhelming, having played in only seven games since signing with the team in March. During this time, he struggled to make an impact, throwing for just 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions. With his future in Las Vegas uncertain, it remains to be seen where the 32-year-old quarterback will land next, although there is speculation that he may find a place in one of the many quarterback-needy teams in the league.
