Wednesday afternoon’s celebration at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade turned into a nightmare as at least one gunman opened fire at Union Station, leaving 22 people injured. Among the victims, 11 were children between the ages of 6 and 15, according to officials.

Children’s Mercy Kansas City Statement

Lisa Augustine, a spokesperson for Children’s Mercy Kansas City, revealed that the hospital treated 12 patients, with 11 of them being children. She stated that nine of the 12 sustained gunshot wounds, but thankfully, all are expected to recover.

Law Enforcement’s Response

Law enforcement reported that the shooting occurred just minutes after Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had addressed the massive crowd gathered to celebrate the Chiefs’ victory. Tragically, at least one person died in the shooting.
