Former New York Giants offensive lineman, Chad Wheeler, has been sentenced to 81 months in prison after being convicted of assaulting his girlfriend in a violent encounter in 2021. The 30-year-old received his sentence in a King County, Washington courtroom, in the presence of his family, friends, and the victim, Alleah Taylor.

Details of the Sentencing

In addition to the 81-month sentence, the judge also ordered Wheeler to have no contact with Taylor and to pay restitution. The sentence is scheduled to begin immediately, as per court documents.

Background of the Case

Wheeler was found guilty of one count of first-degree assault domestic violence on November 9, almost three years after Taylor accused him of nearly killing her during an altercation at their Washington apartment. Taylor alleged that Wheeler attacked her after she refused his orders to bow down to him, resulting in him throwing her on a bed and choking her until she lost consciousness.

Taylor suffered a concussion and an arm injury that required metal hardware to fix due to the violent attack. Wheeler, who was a member of the Seattle Seahawks at the time of the incident, had initially attributed his actions to a “manic episode.”
