An Air Force member, Aaron Bushnell, tragically passed away after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C. as a form of protest against Israel. The incident, which was live streamed on Twitch, has shocked and saddened many.

Bushnell, a 25-year-old from San Antonio, walked up to the gates of the Israeli Embassy and expressed his refusal to be complicit in what he referred to as genocide. He highlighted the suffering of Palestinians and then proceeded to douse himself in accelerant before igniting the flames, all while shouting “Free Palestine!!” Despite efforts by the United States Secret Service to extinguish the fire and rush him to the hospital, Bushnell succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s bomb squad was also called in to investigate a suspicious vehicle in the area, although it was later determined that the vehicle did not pose any threat.
