NBA’s Miles Bridges Cleared Of Three Criminal Charges

Prosecutors in North Carolina have dropped three charges against NBA player Miles Bridges, including misdemeanor child abuse, due to lack of sufficient evidence. The counts, which included domestic violence protective order violation, misdemeanor child abuse, and injury to personal property, were dismissed on Tuesday by prosecutors citing insufficient evidence as the reason for dropping the case.

Case Dismissal

Bridges’ former girlfriend had accused him of damaging her windshield while her children were in the car. However, prosecutors felt the evidence was not strong enough to secure a conviction. Bridges’ attorney stated, “The evidence was going to show Miles was innocent and we were going to win a trial,” in a statement to ESPN.

Previous Incidents

This is not the first time Bridges has been involved in legal issues. He was previously suspended for 30 games by the NBA for a domestic violence incident in 2022. After taking a plea deal in that case, he received 3 years probation, 100 hours of community service, and had to take a parenting class.

On-Court Performance

Despite the off-court distractions, the former first-round pick is performing well on the court, averaging 21.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Charlotte Hornets this season.
